Almut Schlichting – baritone saxophone
Almut Schlichting originally created her solo program TUSBLU for a performance at the SoloImpro Festival 2023 in Berlin. She has chosen the poem TUSBLU by the contemporary Berlin poet Ulrich Goerdten as structural basis (text see below). Compositional elements appear as sketches, but the focus is on improvisation.
Schlichting developed a new pool of musical materials and strategies during a Musikfonds scholarship. She intensively studied various singing cultures, all of which deal with rhythmic music and cross the boundaries between singing and speaking: from American beatbox / hip-hoppers to West and East African griots and griottes to the rhyme and sound concepts of Oulipo sound poetry and Dadaism.
