The famous Bauhaus school is turning 100 – and this anniversary not only inspires museum and gallery curators, but also the Berlin jazz scene. Supported by the Musikfonds, the band SUBSYSTEM follows the tracks of the legendary „Bauhauskapelle“. This band played at the spectacular Bauhaus parties; there are no recordings of their music, but contemporaries rave about the intoxicating mixture of jazz, folk and noise. SUBSYSTEM would like to revive this legend – with thorough research, but without the claim to historical authenticity. We fill the gaps with our individual vision of this music: our own compositions and improvisations, collages of folk song, banana shimmy, twelve tone music and dadaism, musical versions of texts of the Bauhaus artists and arrangements of classical pieces. We will present our new concert program „Bauhauskapellentraum“ in various concerts starting fall 2019. For this occasion, SUBSYSTEM enlarges the duo line-up and becomes a quartet, featuring not only double bass and baritone saxophone, but also voice and guitar.
